Graduation Rate Improvement Plan (GRIP)
The GRIP is a free online assessment and planning tool available to school districts to positively impact the graduation rate and dropout rate of students by:
- Learning about culturally responsive and nationally recognized evidence-based practices
- Completing a self-assessment of current evidence-based practices supporting Graduation for All
- Engaging in in-depth graduation improvement planning and developing an action plan
The GRIP was created from the work of the National Dropout Prevention Center (NDPC) and highlights evidence-based resources and tools to improve graduation outcomes for students. This online tool can be used as a part of a district’s continuous improvement planning process under IDEA. There are 4 sections in which activities are rated in the Graduation Rate Improvement Plan (GRIP).
Four sections of the GRIP plan
- School Leadership and Districtwide Diagnostics– Shared Vision, School Leadership, Systematic Renewal, Data Analysis and Early Warning Systems.
- Family and Community Relationships– Family Perspective and Engagement, School and Community Collaboration, and Student and Family Characteristics.
- Student Educator Learning Supports- Mentoring, Tutoring and Academic Supports.
- Effective Instruction and Targeted Interventions- Personalized Learning Environments, Rigorous and Relevant Instruction, and Classroom Behavior and Social Skills Proficiency.
